- Pula Medical Aid Fund (‘the Fund’) has since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, committed to assisting members through this difficult period by sharing important information regarding prevention and defraying costs associated with testing and management of the disease.
- The Fund reiterated this position earlier this year with its commitment to fund Covid-19 testing and management, including hospitalisation at 100% within agreed tariffs with service providers. The Fund also pledged to work with other stakeholders, including the Government of the Republic of Botswana by availing funding where required to enable Pulamed members to access vaccines.
- This correspondence serves to reaffirm to you, our valued stakeholder, that the Fund is fully committed to ensuring that members affected by Covid-19 have hassle-free access to healthcare and that Members are covered 100% for management of Covid-19. To this end, it is our commitment to you, our valuable member, that the Fund shall cover Covid-19 admissions across ALL benefit options (Executive, Deluxe, Galaxy, Standard and Flexi) at 100% at agreed tariffs with local service providers such that members are not required to pay VAT and any co-payment (i.e., no deposits are required for any Pula Medical Aid Fund member for Covid-19 admissions).
- All members of the Fund, irrespective of benefit option, will be covered for Covid-19 admissions for the entire duration of hospital care. The Fund’s Covid-19 cover is however subject to normal protocols and processes between the Fund, its Administrators, and the hospitals i.e., pre-authorisations and case management are required for all Covid-19 admissions.
The country is experiencing a surge in Covid-19 infections and deaths and members are advised to take necessary precautions by observing all covid-19 protocols. The Fund is actively working with other stakeholders in the vaccination program and members will be advised accordingly when the vaccine becomes available through these efforts.
